Crafting Journey: From Hobby to Market Vendor

Hello, fellow makers!

I’m so excited to finally share my crafting journey with all of you. I’m a mom and professional who has been crafting for as long as I can remember.

As a child who could never sit still (I now understand this to be ADHD), I was always looking for something to fiddle with. Whether I was making those little paper accordions with the ripped-off edges of dot matrix printer paper or working on whatever friendship bracelet was pinned to my jeans, I had a project in hand from a young age. I was always looking for ways to make something from what’s lying around.

Over the years I have taken up every kind of craft: sewing, knitting, crochet, papercrafts, polymer clay, beading… you name it! This has led to two outcomes: way more craft stash than can be reasonably stored, and an excess of handmade objects. Relatives and friends (frequent recipients of my handmade gifts) have said over the years, “you should sell these!” and I’ve finally started to believe in that possibility.

Some fruity turtles I made for a market in November 2024. From left: grapefruit, watermelon, lemon, kiwi and tangerine. The pattern is Tiana the Turtle by All From Jade. Only the lemon and grapefruit ones came home.

Our family has set up a craft market vendor stall a couple of times now, and it’s something we’re hoping to build into a more consistent business. I’m posting here to capture this journey as we learn how to be market vendors.

My goals with this blog are to create an online presence where market customers can find me and to share updates on how market prep is coming along. I’d love to also connect with fellow crafters who share my passion. I’ve been using other crafters’ blogs for inspiration and ideas for years, and now it’s my turn to contribute to this vibrant community.

I’ve got a stash containing all kinds of art and craft supplies… yarn, fabric, paper, brushes, clay… you name it! Let’s see how much of this stash I can move from “supply” to “finished project”!

I’m thrilled to take you with me as I prep for upcoming markets, use up my stash, and experiment with making new things. Let’s create, share, and inspire each other along the way!

Happy crafting!
